I Got Into the Union Street Gallery Earth & Ocean Exhibition — And I'm Still Smiling.
I have some exciting news to share — two of my photographs have been selected for the Earth & Ocean exhibition at Union Street Gallery, and honestly, I'm still pinching myself.
This is my first juried gallery exhibition and it means more to me than I can easily put into words. When I submitted my work I was hopeful but realistic — galleries are competitive and the Earth & Ocean theme called for work that goes beyond pretty pictures of the ocean. It needed to say something.
The two pieces selected are Wave Crashes Over and Strutting on the Beach — both shot on a trip to Cancun along the Yucatan coastline. I was practically lying on the ground to get these shots, camera inches from the surf, waiting for the ocean to do something extraordinary. Apparently it delivered.
Wave Crashes Over captures the Caribbean Sea exploding between two weathered rocks in a split second of raw oceanic energy. Strutting on the Beach is a Great Egret mid-stride through the surf — wings half-spread, completely unbothered by the breaking waves around it.
If you're in the Chicago Heights area I'd love for you to come see them in person at Union Street Gallery. There's something about seeing a fine art print on a gallery wall that no screen can replicate.Details on the exhibition dates and location are below. And as always, prints are available in my fine art gallery.
